Types of Lubricant

Lubricant in motorcycle engine is very important. The lumbricant has functions of reducing the effect of friction and keeping the engine temperature. The lubricant must be able to penetrate into very narrow gap and must be fast lubricating. Without lubricant, engine will stop because of overheating and engine parts will be broken too.
Now, lubricant types are various. The most common type of lubricant used  many people are 20W-50. This lubricant has thick viscosity. Lubricant of 20W-50 does not easily penetrate and make the engine moving slowly. Therefore, sport motorcycle needs thinner viscosity, 10W-30. Lubricant of 10W-30 can easily penetrate and engine can move faster. This lubricant is ussually used in high rotation engine such as motor racing and motor matic. This type of lubricant is ussually easy evaporated. When the engine is hot, the lubricant will evaporated cause of thin viscosity. So, people use in between type of lubricant, 15W-40 or 10W-40. If you tend to like thick viscosity lubricant but want to  get faster lubricating, you can use 20W-40 lubricant.

So, what motor you have and what character you are, it determines the lubricant. Have a nice and safe riding.

What motorcycle do you have? Every motorcycle uses bearing at its wheel. Some motorcycles have the same size of bearing. Yamaha, Honda, & Suzuki have the same size of bearing at rear wheel. Suzuki and Honda also have the same size of bearing at front wheel.

Usually, the sizes of bearing that are commonly used are 6301, 6201, 6300, 6203, etc. Bearing of Honda and Suzuki is made by SKF. Bearing of Yamaha is made by Toyo or NTN. They issue two types: without cap and with cap. Bearing with cap is better because the grease will not be easily thrown out (cause of rotation) and the water cannot easily get into the bearing. If we are price concern, Suzuki's bearing price is cheapest. If you use size of 6301, Suzuki' price is around Rp 19,000, Honda's is around Rp 22,000 and Yamaha's price is around Rp 30,000. Suzuki's bearing price of 6300 is around Rp 17,000 and Yamaha's is around Rp 20,000. Suzuki's bearing price of 6201 is 13,000, Honda's is Rp 15,000 and Yamaha's is Rp 16,000.

I think they have the same quality but their prices are different. So, which one do you choose? Have a nice & safe riding!

Alternatif Gear set untuk Supra X125 & Karisma

Apakah gear set sepeda motor Anda kurang kuat atau sering ganti? Biasanya keluhan ini terjadi pada sepeda motor yang menggunakan rantai ukuran kecil (420) misalnya Supra X125 dan Karisma. Untuk Supra X125 dan Karisma, Anda dapat mengganti gear set milik Supra Fit New. Lubang baut gear pada gear belakang kedua gear adalah sama. Gear depan kedua motor tersebut juga sama.


Perbedaannya adalah pada ukuran gear belakang dan panjang rantai. Ukuran gear belakang Supra X125 adalah 36T dan Supra Fit New adalah 35T. Jadi Gear belakang Supra Fit New lebih kecil sedikit, berakibat pada putaran roda. Ukuran rantai untuk Supra X125 adalah 420-104 dan Supra Fit New adalah 428-106. Jadi Rantai Supra Fit New lebih panjang 2 mata rantai. Jika Anda memakai rantai Supra Fit New untuk Supra X125, Anda harus memotong 2 mata rantai. Dari sudut harga, gear set Supra X125 lebih murah daripada gear set Supra Fit New (Rp. 125.000 dan 140.000).

Rantai Motor untuk Beban Berat



Apakah rantai sepeda motor Anda sering putus atau melar? Rantai untuk sepeda motor ada berbagai macam ukuran:



1. 420-104 & 420-107 (sepeda motor yang memakai rantai ukuran ini adalah Karisma, Supra X125, Vega ZR, New Jupiter Z)



2. 428-100, 428-104, 428-106, 428-110, 428-112, 428-128 (kebanyakan sepeda ,motor memakai ukuran ini)



3. 520-106 (Tiger)



Angka pertama (4 atau 5) menunjukkan jarak antar pin dan dua angka berikutnya menunjukkan jarak antar pelat kiri dan kanan. Semakin besar angka tersebut berarti semakin besar jaraknya.



Kegunakan dari sepeda motor juga bervariasi. Jika motor Anda digunakan untuk beban berat, memakai ukuran standar tersebut tidak memadai. Rantai menjadi cepat molor bahkan putus. Anda bisa menggunakan rantai kusus dengan kode H (hard) di angka ke-3, misalnya: 428H-104. Rantai tersebut lebih tebal pada plat kanan-kirinya. Seperti terlihat pada foto, sebelah kiri adalah rantai tipe H dan sebelah kanan adalah rantai standar. Rantai ini dipakai pada sepeda tipe sport seperti Mega Pro dan Satria FU150. Oleh karena itu, jika Anda menginginkan rantai yang lebih kuat dan tahan lama, Anda dapat mencoba rantai tersebut. Have a nice ride!

Was Simoncelli wrong in Le Mans Crash

This season is very tough competition in motoGP. Not only is for team but also is for the riders. We knew that there was controversially crash between Dani Pedrosa and Marco Simoncelli at Le Mans.
We were shocked if we saw the riding style of Simoncelli. He rode cautiously. Everybody blamed him. I think he was not totally wrong. At that moment, Pedrosa's bike became slower and Simoncelli could make lesser gradually the distance. Pedrosa tried to keep ahead. Everybody ought to know that Simoncelli would pass Pedrosa because Simoncelli's bike was faster at that moment. Finally, Simoncelli passed Pedrosa but Pedrosa still forced the bike and the crash happened. Front wheel of Pedrosa hit rear wheel of Simoncelli. Anyway, Simoncelli would have passed Pedrosa but we regreted the crash. If Pedrosa was not emotional, it wouldn't be as bad as now. If Simoncelli was more patient, he would pass Pedrosa at the right moment.
